STEF-TFE strengthens its organization in Belgium
On February 2d, 2009, STEF-TFE, the expert in cold logistics in Europe, acquired DPF (Fresh Food Distribution), a logistics company located in Courcelles (close to Charleroi, 55 km from Bruxelles).
This acquisition marks the 20th anniversary of STEF-TFE’s presence in Belgium, where the French group created its first Belgium affiliate in 1989.
STEF-TFE has two other sites in Belgium. With this new investment, the logistics operator strengthens its position on the Belgium logistics market for retailers.
In the last three years, STEF-TFE made major investments in Belgium. In 2008, the group invested € 11 millions to expand its Saintes logistics site.
Located in the Walloon Heinaut province, the Courcelles site, renamed STEF Courcelles, offers 3,600 square meter of cool storage. It is a multi-temperature site (ambient and cool storage 2 °C to 4 °C) specialized in logistics services for retailers. Its services include order preparation and the transportation of just-in-time products (fresh food, fruits and vegetables, meat and seafood) and stored products (milk). DPF employees will stay with STEF Courcelles.
“The acquisition of DPF at Courcelles reinforces STEF-TFE’s organization which will be able to deliver improved services for order preparation and deliveries to retailers in Belgium and Luxembourg. The group will now have three sites in Belgium and it will have a broader range of activities in this strategic zone in Europe”, said Bruno Duquenne, STEF-TFE Deputy Chief Operating Officer for European activities (France excluded).
“The STEF Courcelles platform is well dimensioned to accompany our customers’ growth in the future. If necessary, it can be enlarged to accommodate new activities”, added Koen Torrekens, managing director for TFE Belgium and STEF Courcelles.
